Otto’s Dirt Service specializes in the design and construction of private lakes and ponds. We provide landowners in the North Texas/Southern Oklahoma area information & expertise critical to the careful planning, good design, construction, and ongoing management of their new or existing lakes and ponds. Based in Lindsay, Texas, about an hour north of the Dallas/Fort Worth metropolitan area, near the Texas/Oklahoma border, Otto’s Dirt Service office is open from 9am to 2pm, Monday through Friday.
Born in Wichita Falls, Texas, owner Mike Otto is a family man with a beautiful wife, two married daughters & their husbands, a son, and three wonderful grandchildren. As a young man, he cut his teeth operating heavy equipment for a golf course construction company. In 1979, he purchased his own dozer and started Otto's Dirt Service.
Mike's early focus was digging livestock ponds for farmers and ranchers in the North Texas area, but he has since expanded his area of expertise to include both the design and construction of private recreational lakes.

In 1990, Mike met the well-known marine biology expert, Bob Lusk, and began partnering with him to plan and create incredible bodies of water that are the envy of all fishermen and neighbors. Together, he & Bob co-own the popular magazine Pond Boss, and Mike is a regular contributor.
In 2015, Mike published his own book, "Just Add Water." Based on his many articles from Pond Boss magazine, the book provides its readers with guidance regarding the many variables that must be considered when planning and building a private lake or pond.
Today, with nearly 40 years of experience under his belt and an experienced construction crew, Mike spends more and more time consulting with clients about building, expanding, cleaning, maintaining, and improving their ponds, lakes, and property. Through his consulting company, H2Otto Consulting, he has consulted on projects all over the United States and in Mexico.
